postcard from venus

the more time i spend secluded, the more my mind drifts towards distant worlds from ours. populating that sandbox, and all of its twisted intricacies, is what led to this collection.

here's where i've been to start the new year :) hopefully it resonates with you.

relics

In one way or another, I’ve spent my entire conscious life searching frantically for the sense of feeling understood. That doesn’t make me special, of course, but I think my natural intolerance for masking myself in pursuit of that goal does. As you probably know, reconciling this is one of the hardest yet rewarding tests in life and I feel compelled to share my experience using the most beautiful language I know - music.

My quest for understanding and passion for storytelling are why relics may sound like a diary: each song personifies my story since moving cross country and changing life course three years ago. Hopefully these moments resonate in some magical way and leave you with a strange sense of knowing me better, even if we haven't met yet.

Thank you, all of you, for helping guide me here. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

how would I describe my music?

uplifting, downtempo, emotional journey music

when & why did I start writing music?

To help my focus on school, I began studying at cafes and fell cripplingly in love with downtempo electronic music (MrSuicideSheep, Liquiform, etc.) which I’d play on repeat for ambiance.

I lasted until midway through my freshman year of college before realizing these genres resonated with me deeper than most. In classic fashion, I felt compelled to try creating my own pieces to move others and begged my parents for help acquiring Ableton Live and two studio monitors.

who are my biggest inspirations?

Angels & Airwaves is the first, best answer. Tom DeLonge’s creative use of delays and uplifting major chords caught my ear from the first time listening on my dad’s original iPod and has heavily influenced my melodies since.

Others include SEAWAVES, Good Weather for an Airstrike, EMBRZ, & Porter Robinson.
